Jasper Hoiby wins Young Spirit Award
If you haven’t already heard, Jasper Høiby won the Copenhagen Jazz Festival Young Spirit Award on 5 Feburary 2012.
We asked Jasper to share his thoughts on winning this prestigious award…
Edition Records: For those who don’t know could you explain what the Copenhagen Jazz Festival Young Spirit Award is?
Jasper Høiby: As far as I understand, it’s a brand new award running for the first year. There’s two main awards for someone who has put it a lifetime achievement to modern jazz and then there is another for someone ‘young-er’ (like me who has also put in a lifetime of effort just in a shorter period of time! Hahahaha )… joking aside, the ‘young spirit’ award is for someone younger who has caused a stir and done something impressive I guess. You would never say that in Denmark though… people are way too cool for that.
